ONE I did this CD in 1991 following the death
of one of my best friends.
It's solo piano improvisations, pretty laid back,
not sad at all, but unlike anything
I've done before or since.

The Country's Lament

This one has an unusual story behind it. On November 22, 1963 I was sixteen years old.

President Kennedy's assassination affected me so strongly that I felt compelled to write a piece of music. So I wrote this piece of music called "The Country's Lament" and sent it off to Mrs. Kennedy. Apparently the collection of consolation correspondence to her was huge, because I got a thank you note a year later.

Some time ago a man named Paul De Angelis decided to go through the 2,500,000 pieces of correspondence and publish a book of the best stuff. That book is called Dear Mrs. Kennedy, it's published by St. Martin's Press, it went public on October 13, 2010, and it includes "The Country's Lament" in manuscript. Paul contacted me first for my permission to use it, which I gladly gave. Then he requested a recording of it to use on his book tour. So I recorded it on September 26, 2010.

It's copyrighted, but you can have it for FREE.

The Train to Ireland

I wrote this little fiddle tune on a train. Actually it was heading from Wales to Heathrow Airport in London, where I caught a plane to Dublin. It appears in the tab section above as "Off to Ireland", but I decided I like this title better. This is a rough mix, FREE for now because some folks want to get their hands on it in a hurry. I'll replace it later with the final version.
